About Maggies' Station

Welcome to Maggie’s Station.  I hope you enjoy the shopping experience here on this web site.  I look forward to serving you with the up most guarantee satisfaction.

Maggie’s Station was born after the passing away of my, Mother, “Maggie” who loved to keep in touch with family and friends through letter writing.  She would often write notes sharing what her life was about and always included notes about those she was writing to and their lives.

I always loved getting mail from her.  She was the ultimate “Emily post” of her time and would address the envelope formally but the notes were written with a lot of love and details.  She had the most beautiful handwriting and was crushed in 1989 when she broke her wrist of her right hand.  Maggie felt she would never write again.  But with lots of encouragement and practice her handwriting returned and she wrote all the way up till her start of hospice care of January 7, 2006.

Maggie, passed away on April 5, 2006 after evacuating for the worst hurricane (Katrina) ever in the US from New Orleans.  She stayed away from her home of 50 years for over 5 weeks. I was privileged to live with her during her hospice care and was assisted by family, friends, hospice care provided by Guardian Health Services and the Ladies of Charity of New Orleans.

Because, the city is still recovering, all sales at the Helen Brett Shows and on this web site, 10 percent will be given to help the Ladies of Charity USA with the poor of New Orleans at a center called Rebuild Center at St. Joseph (Tulane Avenue in the downtown area).  There will be six modular trailers connected together to provide a one-stop center for the chronically homeless, the poor living in the area and those made homeless by the storm seeking to return home.  There will be two shower trailers, two office trailers from which social services case management will be conducted, one trailer that will house restroom and laundry facilities, one food pantry trailer, one trailer for meal preparation, and costum designed trailer for community meetings.  There will also be a special bay area that will include a mobile health van by the Daughters of Charity.

Throughout, this site you will see samples of “Maggie’s handwriting.” I hope you enjoy the site and it brings you joy of remembering a special one in your life.

I sincerely hope you find all of your needs here to brighten other lives with and take the time to cherish all the ties of family and friends.  There is a lost art of letter writing but it doesn’t have to be.
